Not everyone was kind to us. But the people who were changed the course of my life.
My parents came to the United States in the 1960s with very little in their pockets. My sister and I learned English watching Saturday morning cartoons. Not everyone welcomed us, but those who did left a lasting mark. They taught me that kindness makes the world a better, easier place to live.
Cyndi and I have tried to pass that on to our three children, and now we get to share it with our grandchild, too. Whether we're at home or traveling, we look for ways to serve. Friends who travel with us know we might end up visiting a local orphanage, or sharing a meal and a prayer on the curb with someone experiencing homelessness.
The LUV Fund is how our family puts that belief into practice. We're convinced that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to transform a life and bring hope to someone who needs it most.
